Cointelpro Papers: Documents from the FBI's Secret Wars Against Domestic Dissent, by Ward Churchill and Jim Vanderwall.  The FBI went way overboard in their anti-radical activities in the 60's, and I regret to inform you that it is entirely possible that they and/or their allies in similar organizations might end up going way overboard after the understandable anti-terrorist hysteria that occurred after Sept. 11, 2001.  They should recognize that nonviolent U.S. social change groups, unlike the terrorist Al Qaeda network (built by Islamic fundamentalists originally funded by the CIA to fight the now-defunct Russian empire), are harmless.  But I wouldn't bet on it.  Unfortunately, I believe U.S. activists will need to watch out for the FBI as well as watch out for possible foreign terrorist attacks.  (You can also click here for my prior notes on recent American police harassment of radicals.)  Reviewed by Amazon.com.
